MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – The Wright State men's soccer team was in control all afternoon Saturday as the Raiders tallied three second half goals, including a pair from
Reece Allbaugh, at Robert Morris to remain atop the Horizon League standings.
Wet and chilly throughout with muddy field conditions, Wright State (3-3-4, 3-02 Horizon) controlled the first 45 minutes but had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard despite a 9-2 shot advantage over Robert Morris (3-5-1, 2-2-1 Horizon). The Raiders kept the offensive attack rolling in the second half and finished with a 17-3 final shot advantage while tallying the three goals.
Allbaugh put the Raiders on the board in the 51st minute with his first goal of the season before
Presten Manthey added to the Wright State advantage four minutes later with his second tally in as many games. The Raiders put the game out of reach in the 70th minute when Allbaugh found the back of the net again for his second career multi-score effort.
Allbaugh finished with a match-high seven shots, four of which were on frame, while three Raiders –
Joe Kouadio,
Nico Likulia and
Coen Wilson – all had two shots. Three different players each had one shot for the Robert Morris to bring the hosts to their tally, while Raider goalkeeper
Sebastian Jimenez was only challenged once to record his lone save.
The Raiders now return home to host Purdue Fort Wayne next Saturday night at Alumni Field. First kick scheduled for 5 p.m. and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
