Volleyball completes undefeated HL regular season at 18-0

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Wright State volleyball team wrapped up an undefeated Horizon League regular season on Saturday afternoon with a three-set sweep at Youngstown State as the Raiders ran through the Horizon at 18-0 and have now won 21 consecutive matches overall.

Wright State (26-3, 18-0 Horizon) now turns its sights on the 2022 Horizon League Championship, which the Raiders will host inside McLin Gymnasium next weekend, November 18-20. Wright State will face the lowest remaining seed on Saturday, November 19 at 3 p.m., with the championship match set for Sunday at 2 p.m. All matches in the 2022 Horizon League Championship will be available on ESPN+.

On Saturday, 11 different Raiders recorded kills against Youngstown State (14-15, 8-10 Horizon), paced by career-best nine kills from Seiler Hruska. Sam Ott added seven kills and Megan Alders had five kills of her own, while Taylor Bransfield, Aaliyah Byers and Elena Dubuc each had four kills. Jenna Story recorded five of the Raiders' eight service aces while adding a match-best 12 digs, while Byers had six blocks and Katie Meyer passed out 28 of Wright State's 35 assists.

SET ONE
Wright State used an early 5-0 run to take control and never looked back, with a pair of kills from Alders and Bransfield to gain the separation. An 8-2 run late in the set thanks in part to two more kills from Alders set the Raiders to the edge of the set before a Youngstown attacking error closed the set.

SET TWO
The Raiders tallied nine consecutive points as part of a larger 11-2 run to begin the set behind multiple kills from Dubuc and Hruska, along with a pair of Story service aces, and were never really challenged in the set. Wright State took the two-set advantage thanks to a 6-2 run to end the set thanks to two more Story service aces and two Hruska kills.

SET THREE
Wright State recorded the first four points of the set and was off and running from there. Youngstown State pulled within three following a Raider error to make it 11-8, but from there, Wright State recorded the next five points and closed the match by tallying 14 of the final 17 points, adding a six-point run before an afternoon ending kill from Erika Smith.
