Bryce Nixon's career-high 20 points were not enough, as the Wright State women's basketball program dropped a 96-67 road contest to Eastern Illinois on Monday night at Lantz Arena.
Three Raiders scored in double figures, led by Nixon with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and a 4-of-5 clip on 3-pointers.
Emily Chapman netted a season-high 15 points in addition to a team-best four rebounds and three assists, while
Isabelle Bolender chipped in with 10 points.
Wright State (1-4) found itself down 55-29 at the halftime break and trailed by 20-plus points for the remainder of the non-conference matchup.
The Raiders were at their best in the fourth quarter, outscoring the undefeated Panthers (6-0) 23-18.
WSU finished with an efficient 40-percent (23-of-57) shooting percentage, including 12 makes on 29 3-point attempts. Notably, Wright State shot 6-of-8 from deep in the opening quarter, paced by Chapman with a pair of threes.
Eastern Illinois had its way offensively with a 58% (37-of-67) field goal percentage, scoring 23 or more points in the first three quarters of action.
The Panther frontcourt found success, outscoring WSU 54-18 in points in the paint while also winning the battle on the boards 43-21.
Lariah Washington scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting for EIU, while Macy McGlone recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Wright State will look to bounce back on Friday for its conference home opener against Robert Morris. The Horizon League game will start at 6 p.m. and broadcast live on ESPN+.
