SPRINGFIELD, Ohio —
Cierra Lively and
Elaysia Wilburn both won events as the Wright State track and field program opened its season on Saturday at the Tiger Open hosted by Wittenberg University.
Wilburn ran to a winning time of 8.31 seconds in the 60-meter dash for the first individual victory of her collegiate career. The freshman also placed third out of 23 competitors in the long jump with a clearance of 5.01 meters.
Melissa Siler was ninth in the long jump at 4.76 meters, followed by
Bekah Robertson in 11th (4.72m) and
Tatiana Brown in 12th (4.71m) for the Raiders.
Lively earned an individual win in the high jump by clearing 1.59 meters.
Amelia Harlow (6th // 1.49m),
Tatiana Brown (9th // 1.44m), and
Callista Hess (10th // 1.39m) collected top-10 finishes in the event as well.
Another Wright State freshman in
Kylee Thomas was runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.60 while also taking fifth out of 29 competitors in the 400-meter dash (1:01.39).
Mia Wyngarden crossed the finish line at 1:01.45 in the 400-meter dash, good for fifth overall.
Emma Carr was 22nd in the event with a time of 1:07.82.
Hess had her best finish of the day in the triple jump, finishing fifth overall at 9.53 meters.
Briana Morrisette and
Kira Ball raced in the 200-meter dash, finishing with times of 29.70 and 31.60.
The Raiders closed the meet with a fifth-place mark in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of Wyngarden, Robertson, Thomas, and Carr earned a time of 4:18.22.
