PEORIA, Ill. — The Wright State baseball program plated three-plus runs in five of its first six innings en route to a series-clinching 20-5 victory against Bradley on Sunday afternoon at Dozer Park.
WSU (14-15) needed just six innings to reach a season-high 20 runs on 17 hits, including six doubles and four home runs. The Raiders added nine free passes on six walks and three hit by pitch.
Wright State jumped out to an 8-1 advantage after two innings of play, punctuated by a pair of two-out, three-run homers by
Sammy Sass and
Gehrig Anglin.
The Raiders extended their lead to 13-1 in the third, as
Andrew Patrick was plunked with the bases loaded, followed by
Julian Greenwell blasting his first career grand slam.
While Bradley (9-17) reduced its deficit to 13-3 with two runs in the bottom of the third, WSU answered back with seven unanswered runs over the next three frames.
Sass's impressive performance continued in the fourth inning, as he doubled and came around to score on a single by
Jay Luikart. The Raiders plated a trio of runs in the fifth thanks to a two-run double off the bat of
Alec Sayre and
Zane Harris's third sac fly of the weekend. After Luikart and
Luke Arnold started the sixth with consecutive hits,
Andrew Patrick brought the pair home on his first collegiate home run.
WSU gave up a mere two runs for the remainder of the game to seal its third-straight series victory.
