HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL – The Wright State golf team will carry the team lead into the second round of the 2022 Horizon League Championship after the Raiders carded an opening round 282 team score at the El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.
The Raiders sit at six-under on the team leaderboard, eight shots clear of second-place Oakland at two-over, with Youngstown State another shot back in third at two-over. All five Raiders are inside the top 20 on the individual leaderboard, including
Tyler Goecke in second and
Mikkel Mathiesen in a tie for third after 18 holes.
Second round action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning with 18 holes, as the Raiders will tee off beginning at 8:20 a.m. through 9 a.m., all playing the back nine first and starting on the 10th hole. The final round will tee off Tuesday morning.

Goecke started his opening round off right away, carding birdies on holes one and two before he closed with four birdies over the final six holes to tally his five-under 67 and sit one shot back of individual leader Ken Keller of Youngstown State. Mathiesen also jumped to the right side of the scorecard quickly, tallying an eagle on the par five opening hole before adding a pair of birdies to his two-under round of 70.
Cole Corder is also inside the top 10 individually, sitting in a tie for sixth at one-under following his round of 71 that saw a pair of bogeys on his front nine holes before a trio of birdies on the back nine, including his final hole of the afternoon, to inch closer to the top of the leaderboard.
Bryce Haney carded a two-over round of 74 and is tied for 16th after his first 18 holes. Haney birdied his first hold of the day and finished with three overall but also had three bogeys and a double bogey on his first round card.
Davis Root is one shot back of Haney in a tie for 20th following his three-over 75 that saw a pair of birdies, a bogey and two double bogeys.
