Halsey defends steeplechase title at Horizon League Outdoor Championship

The Wright State track and field program collected a pair of podium finishes, highlighted by a title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the fourth time in a row on day two at the Horizon League Outdoor Championship in Rochester, Mich.Â
After two days of competition, Wright State sits seventh out of nine teams with 13 points. The Raiders will conclude the championship meet tomorrow, with events starting at 10 a.m.Â
Abigail Halsey paced the WSU by taking first in the 3K steeplechase for the second-straight year. The senior raced to a time of 10:56.30, which was 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up finisher.Â
The trio of Bekah Robertson, Melissa Siler, and Tatiana Brown competed in the final three events of the heptathlon. All three set personal-best marks in the event. Robertson earned sixth overall with 4,104 points, followed by Siler in 10th (3,656) and Brown in 11th (3,175).Â
Robertson placed second in the 800-meter run (2:27.17), fifth in the long jump (4.99m), and 12th in the javelin (20.12m) en route to becoming the fifth Raider to surpass the 4,000-point barrier.Â
Siler took eighth in the long jump (4.80m), seventh in the 800m (2:44.13), and 11th in the javelin (23.72m), while Brown was at her best in the javelin with a ninth-place finish (23.99m).
Alicia Neumeier qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run, as she placed third with a personal-best time of 2:14.04. Nataly Dunes Diaz finished 25th in the 800m prelims at 2:38.81.Â
Alycea Ruhlen raced to 13th in the 400-meter dash prelims with a time of 1:03.99. Emma Carr and Kira Ball were 15th and 16th overall at 1:07.40 and 1:12.62, respectively.Â
