Pair of Raiders named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON – The Horizon League released its 2026 Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Teams on Wednesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, with Patrick Statzer and Sydney Thompson among the student-athletes honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.

A Crime and Justice Studies major, Statzer competed in three different meets in three distance events this spring. Also named to the 2025 and 2026 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field All-Academic teams, along with spots on the 2025 and 2026 Horizon League Cross Country All-Academic Team, Statzer has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester he has been eligible, while his work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester of his collegiate career.

A Nursing major, Thompson competed in seven different meets in five distance events this spring, including setting new personal bests in the 10,000m, 5,000m, mile and 1,500m events. She has been named to the Horizon League academic honor roll every semester she has been eligible, while her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester of her collegiate career.
