LAST TIME OUT
Brock Pickett's header proved to be the difference last Saturday night as Wright State defeated Northern Kentucky 1-0 at Alumni Field. The lone goal of the contest came in the 39th minute off a give and go from John Lynam to Joe Kouadio, who worked around a Northern Kentucky defender and sent a perfect pass into the middle of the box to find a wide-open Pickett, who deposited the header in the bottom left corner past the diving Daniel Bermingham.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee has lost three in a row and is just 1-6-2 on the year with its lone win coming at home against Wisconsin back on September 1. The Panthers are 0-2 to date in Horizon League play but begin a stretch with three of the next four matches at home starting on Wednesday. Milwaukee compiled a 9-8-1 record last fall with a 6-3-1 mark in the Horizon.
HISTORY VS. MILWAUKEE
The Raiders and Phoenix will meet for the 38th time in the series on Wednesday, with the Raiders handing the Panthers their only draw of the season, a 1-1 double overtime tie in late September at Alumni Field last fall. Wright State is 12-18-7 all-time against Milwaukee but had won seven of the last eight regular season contests and advanced in the HL tournament on a pair of shootouts prior to last season's double overtime draw.
TOP HEAVY
Entering the week, Wright State sits in a tie atop the Horizon League standings with Robert Morris as both squads have 2-0-1 League marks and seven points and are three points clear of third place Cleveland State. The Raiders and Colonials each have Wednesday matches against teams currently at the bottom of the standings (Milwaukee, 0-2 HL and Oakland, 0-0-1 HL) before meeting on Saturday afternoon.
NET MINDING
Goalkeeper Sebastian Jimenez is No. 6 nationally and leads the Horizon with 39 total saves entering Saturday's match, while his 21 saves in Horizon League play also leads the League. Jimenez is averaging 5.57 saves per game, No. 7 nationally, while his 83 percent save rate is 17th in the country.
CAREER JIMENEZ
Sebastian Jimenez tallied a career-high nine saves in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Northern Kentucky and has also notched eight saves twice this season, at Jacksonville and at Green Bay.
NEXT UP
Following Wednesday's match, the Raiders remain on the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Robert Morris. First kick is scheduled for 2 p.m. in metro Pittsburgh.
