Track & Field set for Mastodon Invitational

DAYTON — The Wright State men's and women's track and field program will continue its indoor season at the Mastodon Invitational on Saturday, January 21, inside the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Field events will get underway at 11 a.m. before running events begin at noon. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN+.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders had several strong performances last week at the Marshall Classic, which was their first meet of the new year.Â
>> Alex McCarty was responsible for WSU's lone win of the day, as he claimed first out of nine runners in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:46.26. Max Pettit earned runner-up in the event at 8:46.90, followed by Tayton Hess in eighth place (9:13.92).Â
>> Jacob Poling took third overall in the mile run with a time of 4:35.28, while Patrick Statzer was fifth at 4:40.78. Ethan Neblock (7th, 4:43.53), Alan Fullenkamp (8th, 4:44.91), and Michael Cole (9th, 4:45.67) rounded out Wright State runners in the top 10 spots.
>> Cierra Lively headlined the Raider women by clearing 1.59 meters in the long jump on her way to a third-place finish. Tatiana Brown and Melissa Siler tied for ninth in the event at 1.49 meters.
>> Emma Shigley earned fifth out of 32 competitors in the 3,000-meter with a time of 10:26.94. Alicia Neumeier finished close behind in eighth place (10:34.12), while Emma Johnson (16th, 11:07.16) and Kaitlyn Miller (20th, 11:14.49) also finished top-20 overall.
>> Meredith Goecke placed sixth overall as WSU's lone representative in the pole vault with a top clearance of 3.15 meters. The newcomer also took fifth in the triple jump (10.32). Both marks were top-10 in school history.Â
>> Mia Wyngarden raced to a time of 1:02.41 in the 400-meter dash, good for seventh out of 12 competitors. Siler and Emma Carr finished with times of 1:05.98 and 1:09.28 in the event's second heat.
BACK AGAIN
The Raider men are in their inaugural season of competition, as Wright State announced the addition of men's indoor track & field and outdoor track & field in April 2022. The Raiders previously had student-athletes competing unattached in various indoor and outdoor meets over the years.
UP NEXT
The Raiders will return to competition a week later at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg on Saturday, January 28.
