FORT WAYNE – The Wright State volleyball team cruised to a three-set sweep on Friday night at Purdue Fort Wayne to open the final weekend of the regular season. The Raider win, coupled with a Milwaukee loss, gives Wright State the Horizon League regular season title for the second straight season.
Wright State will now host the Horizon League Championship next weekend, November 17-19, inside McLin Gymnasium.
Wright State (18-10, 14-3 Horizon) finished the sweep hitting .323 overall as a group while holding Purdue Fort Wayne (10-19, 5-12 Horizon) to just a .085 hitting percentage.
Callie Martin led the way with her 12-kill, 16-dig double-double, while
Aaliyah Byers &
Sam Ott each tallied 10 kills and
Megan Alders added nine kills. Ott just missed a double-double of her own, adding nine digs, while
Katie Meyer passed out 36 of the Raiders' 44 assists, while Wright State also recorded four services aces, including a pair from
Jenny Morey.
The Raiders took the opening set 25-18 before cruising to a 25-11 second set win and wrapping up the night with a 25-17 third set to complete the sweep.
