Women’s Basketball hosts Marshall Monday night

DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball program will look to build its winning streak to four games on Monday night against Marshall inside the Nutter Center. The non-conference matchup will tipoff at 7. p.m. and stream on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available.

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders are coming off an 82-45 victory over Division II Slippery Rock last Monday. Wright State had three players score in double figures, led by Kacee Baumhower's game-high 17 points. Rachel Loobie scored a career-high 16 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Alexis Hutchison finished with 16 points and a team-leading four assists and four steals.
WSU netted a season-best 11 threes on 26 attempts (42.3%) and went 21-for-24 (87.5%) at the charity stripe. The Raiders turned 20 Slippery Rock turnovers into 22 points while also besting the visitors in rebounding (43-29), points in the paint (28-16), second chance points (17-7), bench points (22-7), and fast break points (10-4). SRU was limited to 12 or fewer points in all four quarters.
HISTORY VS. MARSHALL
Wright State and Marshall are set to meet for the second year in a row and the third time since 2006. The Herd are in front 7-3 in the all-time series, which includes a three-game winning streak. WSU lost to Marshall 72-47 in December 2022. The Raiders last defeated the Herd 81-67 during the 2000-01 season.
SCOUTING THE HERD
Marshall is 2-2 overall with victories against Chattanooga (79-74) and Point Park (121-55). The Herd top the nation in 3-point attempts per game (36.2) while also ranking fourth in steals per game (16.0) and sixth in turnovers forced per game (26.75).
Roshala Scott is averaging 26.3 points per game, good for the third-highest mark in the country. Abby Beeman has had an all-around start to the season, averaging 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 3.8 steals through four games. The graduate guard posted the first triple-double in program history against Point Park (11/20).
HEATING UP
With a 3-2 record, Wright State is off to its best five-game start since the 2019-20 campaign. The Raiders have started the season 4-2 or better only once in the last six years.

The Raiders are seeking their first-ever four-game winning streak under the direction of third-year head coach Kari Hoffman. WSU has defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene (88-64), Indiana State (72-63), and Slippery Rock (82-45) in its current streak of victories. Graduate transfer Alexis Hutchison tops the team in scoring (16.2 ppg) through five games. She scored a season-high 26 points in Wright State's 72-63 win at Indiana State (11/18). Her 19 points at Southern Indiana (11/6) were the most in a Raider debut since Angel Baker's 21 points against CSU Bakersfield (11/6/18) at the start of the 2018-19 season.
Redshirt senior guard Layne Ferrell is averaging 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. At Indiana State, she stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 14 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks. Her double-double was the first by a Raider since the 2021-22 campaign.

The guard spent her first four seasons at Malone University, where she was a two-time NCCAA Division I All-Midwest Region selection and a Third Team NCCAA All-American in 2023. Julia Hoefling has compiled 89 career blocks over 88 collegiate games.
BUILT IN OHIO
Six of WSU's seven total newcomers played high school basketball in Ohio, including four from the Greater Dayton area. In total, 11 individuals on Wright State's 15-player roster are from Ohio.
