Raiders set to open December at Davidson

DAYTON - The Wright State men's basketball team opens December with a quick road visit to Davidson for a Saturday afternoon 3 p.m. tipoff. Both teams are coming off Wednesday night wins, with the Raiders cruising past IUPUI at home and Davidson a four-point winner on the road. Fans can follow the action several ways - via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in to the new home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins will have all the play-by-play on the radio feed.

Wright State shot 61 percent on Wednesday night as five players had double-digit scoring nights and the Raiders opened Horizon League action with a 103-74 win over IUPUI inside the Nutter Center. Wright State started slow, missing its first six shots, but finished the first half making 20 of its final 29 shots in the opening period as the Raiders led 43-28 at the break and never looked back against IUPUI. Tanner Holden tallied 13 of his game-high 26 points in the first half as he ended the night shooting 11-of-14 from the floor, adding six rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block to his stuffed stat line in his second 20-plus point performance of the season. Brandon Noel recorded his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds after tallying 11 double-doubles a season ago, while Trey Calvin notched 15 points and AJ Braun added 11 points of his own. Drey Carter reached double figures for the first time in his career with a 12-point effort off the bench, adding seven rebounds.
RUN IT BACK
Wright State and Davidson will meet for the second straight season, and second time ever, on Saturday. Last year, the two teams met inside the Nutter Center in Wright State's season opener, with the Raiders falling 102-97 in double overtime. Trey Calvin had a then- career-high 37 points in last year's meeting, including 17 points in the first 20 minutes, while AJ Braun added 11 points and nine rebounds.Â
KNOW THE FOE
- Davidson is 4-3 on the season, entering December with wins over Washington and Lee, Maryland, Boston University and Charlotte. The Wildcats have losses to Clemson, East Tennessee State and St. Mary's, with the Clemson and East Tennessee State defeats a two- and three-point margin, respectively.
-Overall, four of Davidson's games to date have featured four or less point margins, with Davidson 2-2 in those games.Â

Following Saturday's game, the Raiders will play their next four games at home ahead of the holiday break to close out the remainder of the non-conference schedule.

After turning in five straight six-point scoring efforts from Nov. 14-Nov. 22, Drey Carter recorded the first double digit scoring night of his career on Nov. 29 against IUPUI, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, all career-bests. Carter is shooting 67 percent (19-of-28) while logging 12.6 minutes/game and started his collegiate career with a four-point scoring output on Nov. 10 at Colorado State before the six-point barrage.Â
WHAT'S HOT. . .
Wright State is shooting a combined 62.7 percent on baskets made in the paint and at the rim (131-for-209 combined), which has accounted for 49.1 percent of its overall shot attempts. On the flip side, the Raiders 9-of-22 for the season on corner three-pointers (40.9 percent), which is just ahead the current NCAA Division I average of 34.7 percent. However, corner three attempts have accounted for just 5.2 percent of Wright State's overall shot attempts (average of 3.1 corner three attempts/game).
