Raiders set to meet Mountainers on Monday morning

DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball program begins a busy week when the Raiders travel to take on West Virginia Monday morning in their second-straight Education Day contest. Monday's game will get started at 10 a.m. and fans can follow the action by watching on ESPN+ or following live stats.

Wright State set a new program attendance record on Tuesday morning as the Raiders hosted their annual Education Day game in front of 7,574 fans, falling to visiting Bowling Green 69-48. Layne Ferrell led the Raiders with 16 points, her sixth game this season with double-digit points scored, while Rachel Loobie finished with 14 points as both players pulled down six rebounds and each tallied two blocks and a steal as well. Kacee Baumhower ended the morning just shy of double digits herself, chipping in nine points, as four other Raiders combined for the remaining nine points.

The Raiders will play their second straight Education Day contest on Monday at West Virginia. Coming off an 11 a.m. tipoff last Tuesday at home, Wright State will have another morning tipoff with a 10 a.m. state against the Mountaineers.

Senior Rachel Loobie tallied 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting against Bowling Green on Dec. 12, the most field goals made and attempted in her career. The 14 points were two shy of her career best, while it marked the third time this season Loobie has scored in double digits (career-high 16 points vs. Slippery Rock on 11/20 and 13 points vs. Marshall on 11/27). Loobie entered the year with just two double-digit scoring games in her career and is currently averaging 8.3 points per game.
HISTORY VS. WEST VIRGINIA
Wright State is 2-4 all-time against West Virginia, highlighted by a 68-60 home win on Feb. 18, 1997 (first-ever meeting) and a 69-65 road victory in Morgantown on Dec. 19, 2000. This is the first meeting in the series since a December 2003 contest inside the Nutter Center. Â
HITTIN' THE ROAD
Wright State's Tuesday contest against Bowling Green closed out a season-opening stretch that saw the Raiders play six of their first 10 contests at home. Road Raiders the rest of December, Wright State travels to West Virginia before MTE action in Las Vegas against Wyoming and Presbyterian. The Raiders close the calendar back in Horizon League play at Youngstown State and RMU on Dec. 29 and 31.
HOT FROM DEEP
Wright State has a pair of players shooting above 40% on three-pointers. Sophomore guard Lauren Scott leads the team with a 56.5% (13-for-23) mark from beyond the arc, having connected on three three-pointers in three games this season - Mount Vernon Nazarene (11/14), Slippery Rock (11/20), Eastern Illinois (12/9). Graduate forward Cara VanKempen is hitting threes at a 44.1% (15-for-34) clip, highlighted by a 4-for-5 showing at Michigan State (11/12) on her way to a team-leading 16 points.Â
PRESENCE DOWN LOW
