
Track & Field tallies 13 top-five finishes at Tiger Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wright State track and field program started its indoor season with 13 top-five marks and three runner-up finishes on Saturday at the Tiger Opener hosted by Wittenberg University.Â
The women's team was led by Lylla Kovacs, who earned second overall in the 60-meter hurdle finals (9.24) and fifth in the long jump (5.22m). Meredith Goecke also tallied two top-five finishes, claiming third in the triple jump (10.97m) and fifth in the pole vault (3.05m).Â
Cierra Lively was Wright State's top placer in the long jump, as she cleared 1.60 meters en route to a tie for third overall. Callista Hess placed sixth in the high jump (1.45m) and seventh in the triple jump (10.19).
Melissa Siler collected a pair of top-10 marks, earning fourth in the long jump (5.24m) and eighth in the 60-meter hurdle finals (10.26). Ava Bosticco raced to a time of 8.02 in the 60-meter dash finals, good for the fifth overall.Â
The Raider women added a strong showing in the 300-meter dash, with Leah Harnish in fifth (41.45) and Olivia Gaines in eighth (43.64).Â
On the men's side, Hunter Thompson ran to second overall with a time of 35.68. in the 300-meter dash. He was followed by Mohamed Bilal in fourth (36.43), Maxwell Bacon in seventh (39.48), and Dylan Barnes in ninth (39.62).Â
Oliver Murray tied for second in the pole vault with a top clearance of 4.25 meters. Josh Amheiser was sixth overall in the event at 4.10 meters. Jahi McDonald tied for fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.83 meters.Â
Jude Elkins led Wright State's sprinters, finishing third in the 60-meter hurdle finals (8.32) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.60).Â
The quartet of Bilal, Thompson, Barnes, and Bacon closed the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay (3:31.98).Â
Wright State will take a month-long break from competition for the holidays after its opening meet of the indoor season. The Raiders will return to action at the Marshall Opener on January 13.Â
