
Raiders jump to the lead, two in top five after 36 holes

GOODYEAR, AZ – The Wright State golf team fired a 10-under team score on Monday to jump into first place heading into Tuesday's final round at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona, with Cole Corder and Tyler Goecke each inside the top 10 individually.

Final round action will tee off with 9:45 a.m. ET shotgun starts at Palm Valley Golf Club Tuesday morning.

The Raiders followed up a first round three-over team scorecard with a round of 275, the lowest by any team through 36 holes. As a group, Wright State carded 20 birdies and Davis Root added an eagle on the par five 11th hole as the Raiders collectively had just nine bogeys on Monday. Wright State begins the final round one shot ahead of Marquette and Utah Valley in second place.Â

Corder, who began the day one-under, birdied five of his first nine holes on his way to seven total birdies and just one bogey, which came on the 15th hole, to which he immediately answered with a birdie on the par three 16th to finish six-under for the day with his 66. Corder will tee off Tuesday two shots back of individual leader Lucas Scherf of Drake, who jumped into the lead with a second round 63.

Goecke played bogey-free golf in round two with five birdies on the way to his round of 67 as he's now five-under overall for the tournament and remains in striking distance of the top of the leaderboard.

Mikkel Mathiesen and Andrew Flynn both carded one-under rounds of 71, with Mathiesen balancing four birdies and three bogeys to sit at even par for the tournament in a tie for 24th. Flynn tallied three birdies and a pair of bogeys in his round and is two shots back of Mathiesen at two-over (t43), while Root added a birdie to his eagle on the back nine after starting his round with a pair of bogeys and was even for the day and is three-over for the tournament (t50) heading into Tuesday.

As a group, Wright State is seven-over on par three holes, tied for the best in the field, while the Raiders are one-over on par fours, the best among the 19 teams, and are 15-under on par fives through 36 holes.
