DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball program fell to IUPUI 93-80 on Saturday afternoon inside the Nutter Center.
Lauren Scott shined for the Raiders (4-20, 3-11 HL), scoring a season-high 16 points in just 18 minutes of action. The freshman guard shot 5-of-9 from the field, including a 2-of-4 mark on 3-pointers and four free throws on five attempts.
Emily Chapman totaled 14 points and a team-leading four assists, while
Kacee Baumhower notched 12 points and four rebounds.
Isabelle Bolender was the fourth Raider to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Wright State fell to 4-1 on the season in games with 80-plus points, as the Jaguar offense thrived all game long. IUPUI (13-9, 9-4 HL) shot above 50 percent from the field and on 3-pointers (14-of-28) while adding 19 makes on the free throw line.
The Raiders finished 43.5% (30-of-69) from the field, highlighted by 13 3-point makes. WSU dished out 17 assists compared to a season-low five turnovers. Wright State bested IUPUI 32-30 in points in the paint but lost the rebounding battle 45-28.
IUPUI led for the entirety of the game after opening the Horizon League contest on a 12-0 run. Wright State trailed by as much as 18 points in the second quarter but cut their deficit down to 44-32 by halftime.
A 3-pointer by Bolender brought the game to single digits, 44-35, at the 9:08 minute mark of the third quarter. However, the Jaguars responded with a 17-3 run to push their advantage to 61-38 with 4:56 to go in the period.
The Raiders entered the fourth quarter down 69-48 and trailed the rest of the way for their first conference loss over the last three games.
IUPUI finished with five players in double figures, led by Destiny Perkins with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Rachel Kent had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Natalie Anderson dished out a team-best six assists.
Wright State goes back on the road Friday to face Milwaukee in an 8 p.m. ET game inside the Klotsche Center.
