INDIANAPOLIS — Wright State's
Alex McCarty was named to the Horizon League Indoor Track &. Field All-Academic Team as the conference office announced the 20-member list voted on by the League's faculty athletics representatives.
To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution (excluding summer school), having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
McCarty is coming off a strong performance at the Horizon League Indoor Championship, as he placed sixth in the distance medley relay (10:32.75) and 10th in the mile run (4:22.77). The junior totaled seven top-10 marks during the indoor season, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:46.26) for the first individual win in men's program history.
The Nursing major was named to the 2022 Horizon League Fall Honor Roll en route to All-Academic Team honors for the first time in his career at WSU.
