Mathiesen within striking distance at NCAA Regional

BATH, MI – Mikkel Mathiesen played even par golf on Tuesday despite windy conditions at the 2023 NCAA Regional and will enter Wednesday's final round four-under for the tournament and just five strokes off the individual lead.

Tyler Goecke shot six-over Tuesday and is currently five-over for the tournament heading into tomorrow's final round.

Wednesday's final round gets underway early, with Mathiesen and Goecke among the final groups teeing off. Goecke (+5, t56) will get underway with his final 18 holes at 10:31 and Mathiesen (-4, t11) will tee off at 10:53 in the second to last group to hit the course.

Mathiesen opened his Tuesday with back-to-back bogeys on the par four first hole and the par three second hole before tallying three birdies, all on par fours, over the final seven holes on the front nine. He opened the back nine with a birdie on the par four 10th hole before back-to-back bogeys on the par three 12th hole and par four 13th but ended his round on a high note with a birdie on the par five 18th to close the day with his even par 71. Goecke birdied the par four third hole early in his round but tallied a quadruple bogey on the fifth and was unable to get things going from there. He birdied the par four 10th hole to begin his back nine and ended his day with a birdie on the par five 18th on the way to a six-over 77.Â
