RICHMOND, VA – The Wright State golf team finished tied for ninth at the VCU Shootout, with
Mikkel Mathiesen carding an eight-under total to finish tied for tenth individually to lead the way.
The Raiders finished 15-under overall with four individuals at even par or better. Behind Mathiesen, both
Andrew Flynn and
Shane Ochs were three-under in a tie for 28th while
Kye Fisher was even for the tournament (t44).
Adam Horn finished eight-over (t75) to round out the Wright State lineup.
Mathiesen opened with a first round 71 before carding with a four-under round of 68 in his second 18 holes on Monday. He finished his tournament with a final round three-under 68, collecting 14 birdies across his 54 holes of action. Flynn opened with a two-over 74 Monday before responding with a three-under 69 and a two-under 70 on Tuesday, finishing with 12 birdies and an eagle, which he tallied on the par five fifth hole in the final round.
Ochs carded a one-under 71 in his opening round before a one-over 73 later in Monday afternoon, wrapping up tournament action with a three-under 69 on Tuesday to finish with 16 birdies in his three rounds. Fisher opened play Monday with a three-over 75 before bouncing back with a two-under 70 and a one-under 71, finishing with 13 total birdies, while Horn opened with a first round eight-over before back-to-back even par rounds of 72 on the way to 10 total birdies.
The Raiders continue fall action next week at the Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio on Monday and Tuesday at Virtues Golf Club.
