Raiders slip at home Tuesday night

DAYTON – The Wright State men's soccer team returned home on Tuesday night, falling to Western Michigan 1-0 in non-conference action at Alumni Field.

Wright State (2-4-3) returns to Horizon League play this weekend when the Raiders make the trek to Wisconsin to take on Green Bay. First touch is set for 8 p.m. ET and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.

Western Michigan (6-1-2) took the lead for what turned out to be for good when the visitors scored off a corner kick opportunity in the 25th minute. Jonathan Robinson's set piece found the head of Dylan Sing in the middle of the box, who tucked the ball just under the top crossbar and past the outstretched arm of Raider keeper Alessandro Malterer.

The Raiders had opportunities, tallying six of their seven shot attempts in the second 45 minutes and having all three of their corner kick chances in the second half, but where unable to find the back of the net. Reece Allbaugh led the way with four of Wright State's seven shots, including a pair of attempts on goal, while Henry Hutchinson, Harrison Rody and Samuel Rudjord all tallied a shot each.

Western Michigan was paced by Charlie Sharp's five shots while Sing and Tom Cooklin each had three shots as the visitors finished the night with 19 shot attempts but just three on frame.

Chippy throughout, the match featured 26 combined fouls and five yellow cards, along with a pair of red cards each, one per side, coming in the 81st minute of play.
