Women’s Soccer has 3-0 Shutout at Oakland

ROCHESTER, Michigan – The Wright State women's soccer team shutout Oakland 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Raiders were led with goals by Addy Canter, Allison Charleston, and Olivia Stroud.

Wright State (4-8-1, 2-3-1 HL) bested Oakland (3-10-2, 2-4-0 HL) in shots on goal 11-7, with both teams recording 15 shots. The Raiders put up seven saves to Oakland's eight, and seven corner kicks to their nine.

Leading the Raiders was A. Canter with three shots, two on goal, and the first goal of the match. Elise Canter and Samara Nunn followed, each adding two shots, both on target. A. Charleston recorded two shots with one on goal, while Caitlin Burger, Kaitlyn Eyink, Zara Graff, and Stroud all had one shot on goal. Makenzie Chinn and Alyssa Thomas added one shot on the day. Senior goalkeeper Erin Baker had her first start of the season, logging all 90 minutes while allowing no goals and recording six saves.

The Raiders recorded six shots in the first 45 minutes, with E. Canter and Nunn adding shots on goal in the first ten minutes, and Graff in the 12th. WSU's offense slowed, not putting up another shot until the 34th minute when A. Canter sped down the pitch. The Golden Grizzlies keeper attempted to stop her but was unsuccessful, leaving the goal open for an uncontested goal, A. Canter's first of the season. Chinn added another shot for the Raider in the final 30 seconds of the half.

The Raiders did not let up in the second 45 minutes, putting up nine shots, the first coming from Burger in the 49th. Just over a minute later, the Raiders were awarded a corner kick. Mace took the corner, placing it in the box. The ball was deflected off the hands of Oakland's keeper, bouncing from Ruby Dunlevy to Stroud. Stroud made a reach, redirecting the ball past the keeper and finding the back of the net in the 52nd minute. E. Canter, A. Charleston, and Eyink each added shots in the following minute, followed by Thomas in the 72nd.

A. Charleston added her first goal as a Raider in the 82nd minute as Wright State played it short on a corner. From outside the 18, Charleston shot past two Grizzlies, finding the back of the net after going off the head of an Oakland midfielder. A. Canter and Nunn added two more shots before ending the day with a 3-0 win.

The Raiders will play again on Thursday, October 17 as they host IU Indy for a 7 p.m. pink-out match. Fans can keep up with the action in person with free admission or online with ESPN+ livestreaming and live stats.
