DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team tied 0-0 with IU Indianapolis on Thursday evening. The Raiders will play again in their final home game of the season on Sunday, October 20 at 3 p.m. as they host Purdue Fort Wayne for Senior Day.
Wright State (4-8-2, 2-3-2 HL) bested IU Indy (4-8-3, 3-2-2 HL) in shots 16-10, and shots on target 6-2. The Raiders ended the night with eight corner kicks, allowing none from IUI. The Jaguars put up six saves to WSU's two.
Caitlin Burger led the Raiders with three shots, one on target, followed by
Samara Nunn and
Olivia Stroud, each adding two shots with one on goal.
Elise Canter,
Mariella Hartmann, and
Alyssa Thomas each put a shot on goal.
Allison Charleston had two shots on the day, followed by
Addy Canter,
Ruby Dunlevy,
Zara Graff, and
Olivia Mace with one shot each.
Erin Baker logged all 90 minutes, recording two saves.
Joining Baker in the complete game were
Kaylee Pham and Mace. A. Charleston followed with 83 minutes.
The Raiders got off to a strong start, with 12 shots to IU Indy's three in the first half, putting up shots from A. Charleston and Nunn in the first minute. Burger and A. Charleston followed, each adding a shot before the ten-minute mark. Burger had two more shots in the 18th and 20th minutes, and E. Canter in the 19th. Dunlevy and Graff added shots in the 28th and 29th minutes, and Thomas in the 32nd. Hartmann had the last shot of the half in the 44th minute.
In similar fashion to the first 45 minutes, the Raiders had two shots within the first five minutes of the second half, with one each from Mace and Stroud. Wright State's offense slowed, not adding another shot until the 73rd minute, as A. Canter missed out the top. Nunn put up the final shot of the night in the final 20 seconds, putting it in the bottom center.
