Women’s Basketball Picked Sixth in Horizon League Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State women's basketball program was picked sixth in the 2024-25 Under Armour Horizon League preseason poll, the conference office announced Wednesday. The Raiders tallied 58 points in the poll, which the league's 11 head coaches voted on.
Cleveland State was projected to win the Horizon League, receiving 117 votes with seven first-place votes, while the defending conference champion Green Bay was a close second with 114 points and four first-place votes. Purdue Fort Wayne (98), Milwaukee (85), and Youngstown State (63) round out the top five spots in the poll.
Following the Raiders was Northern Kentucky with 53 points, with Detroit Mercy (39), Oakland (38), IU Indianapolis (36), and RMU (25) behind them.
Under direction of four-year head coach Kari Hoffman, the Raiders made large improvements in the 2023-24 season, putting up an 18-15 overall record, going 11-9 in conference play, a large turnaround from the previous year's 6-14 league record.
The Raiders return juniors Claire Henson, Makiya Miller, and Lauren Scott, redshirt-sophomore Macie Taylor, and redshirt-freshmen Ellie Magestro-Kennedy and Rylee Sagester.
Wright State is seeing many new faces, welcoming nine newcomers to the squad, including six transfers and three freshmen. Sophomore transfers Olivia Brown (Akron), Lexi Bugajski (App State), Makenzie Drout (App State), and Abbie Riddle (Bowling Green) join the squad, along with upperclassmen transfers junior Chloe Chard Peloquin (Canisius), and Amaya Staton (Merrimack College). The Raiders also added freshmen Anna Azara, Elle Bruschuk, and Florrie Cotterill.
The Raiders will tip off the regular season on the road, traveling to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin on November 5. They'll stay on the road, traveling to play the University of Evansville on November 10, before returning home to host Indiana State for the 2024-25 home opener on November 12.
The Raiders will kick off conference play on the road, traveling to Detroit Mercy December 4 and Oakland December 6, returning home to host Cleveland State for their 2024-25 conference home opener on December 16.
