Bowlers capture Mercyhurst Invitational title

ERIE, PA – The Wright State bowling team has captured its first tournament title of the season, going 7-3 in team matches over the weekend to win the Mercyhurst Invitational.
 
The Raiders opened competition on Saturday with a 3-2 record and sat in third-place entering Sunday action before tallying four wins on Sunday, defeating Niagara 4 to 2 in the championship match to win the title. Wright State finished the weekend with 9,529 total pinfall count and a 186.8 average game score.
 
Rylie Jeanneret led the Raiders individually, finishing sixth overall with a 200.60 average and a 1,003 pinfall total in five games. Addy Meshew finished 23rd and Alli Shattuck was 30th, each bowling in four games, with Meshew averaging a 219.75 with 879 total pins and Shattuck turning in a 190.25 average with 761 total pins.
 
The Mercyhurst Invitational title adds to Saturday's third-place finish at the Ohio Bowling Conference Event 1 to begin the Raider season. Wright State is back in action next weekend at the Penguin Classic, hosted by Youngstown State, October 11-13.
