Women’s Basketball Heads to Bellarmine for Thursday Night Game

DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball program will take a trip to Louisville, Kentucky this week, traveling for a Thursday night match at Bellarmine. The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff and will stream on ESPN+ and have live stats provided.

LAST TIME OUT
Cheered on by over 5000 fans from local elementary and middle schools, Wright State added their first win of the 2024-25 season last Friday, defeating Tennessee State 77-65. Wright State ended the day shooting 49 percent overall from the floor and 36.4 percent for three.
 
Claire Henson led the team, recording a career high 22 points, adding 9 rebounds. Joining in the dual-figures was Amaya Staton, putting up her first double-double as a Raider, the eighth in her career, with 12 points and a team leading 13 rebounds. Macie Taylor also saw double-digit stats, ending the day with 12 points while leading the team with four steals, a career high. The Raiders went 21-of-27 on the line, highlighted by Chloe Chard Peloquin's perfect four-of-four and Henson's nine free throws made, both career highs. Joining them on the line was Staton, going six-of-seven on the day.
 
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
The Knights finished last season with an 10-19 overall record, going 5-11 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Bellarmine entered the ASUN Tournament as the 10th seed, falling to Jacksonville University in the first round.
 
Under direction of 13-year head coach Chancellor Dugan, Bellarmine is 3-2 on the season, recently falling at Detroit Mercy (73-71) and Purdue (78-67). The Knights opened the season with a three-win run, taking down IU Southeast (88-56), Midway (105-70), and Ohio (82-50).
 
Graduate guard Hayley Harrison leads the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game with 80 on the season. Skylar Treadwell leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.6 per game. Hope Sivori leads the team in assists (24) and is fifth in the nation for three-point attempts (44), shooting 29.5 percent for three. The Knights are shooting 42.5 percent overall from the floor, 33.1 for three, and 75 percent on the line.  
 
HISTORY VS. BELLARMINE
Wright State has not seen Bellarmine since both transitioned into NCAA Division I athletics, last facing each other in the 1986-87 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament. Bellarmine holds the all-time series 6-5.
 
TALK ABOUT A FOURTH QUARTER
In a 77-65 victory over Tennessee State on Nov. 15, Claire Henson logged a career high 22 points. Of her 22 points on the day, 14 were scored in the final ten minutes. In the eventful final period, the junior guard went three-for-three from the floor and eight-of-nine on the line, accounting for two-thirds of the Raiders 21 points in the quarter.
 
CAREER HIGH SEASON OPENER
The Raiders opened the 2024-45 season at Wisconsin, as Claire Henson and Makiya Miller each saw career-highs with double-digit points in the 95-68 final. Miller ended the night with a career high 22 points, marking eight double-figure scoring games in her collegiate career. Miller matched a career high of six rebounds, previously recorded at Michigan State (01/13/23) and Ohio Christian (11/17/22). Joining Miller in double-figures was Henson, tallying 12 points, another Raider career high. Chloe Chard Peloquin matched a career best of seven rebounds in her Wright State debut, recording five points.
 
NONCONFERENCE TESTS
Wright State's non-conference schedule features ten matchups, opening against Wisconsin (November 5), staying on the road to play the University of Evansville (November 10). return for the 2024-25 home opener, hosting Indiana State on November 12. WSU will stay home to host Tennessee State before their last November road match at Bellarmine on November 21. The Raiders will host their last nonconference matches on November 24 and November 26, taking on Ohio and Findlay, respectively. WSU will close its non-conference slate with games against Grand Canyon (December 18), Georgia Southern (December 19), and Florida Atlantic (December 21) at the GCU Classic. 
 
HORIZON LEAGUE SLATE
Each Horizon League team will play a 20-game double round-robin schedule. Wright State's conference schedule gets underway at Detroit Mercy on December 4 and concludes in the Nutter Center on March 1 versus Robert Morris.

The Raiders will return home to host Ohio on Sunday, November 24. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip off and will have ESPN+ livestreaming and live stats provided.
