15 kills from Ott, Zegunis pace Raiders to Friday win

DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team opened its final home weekend of the regular season with a four-set Friday night victory over Purdue Fort Wayne as Sam Ott notched a double-double with 15 kills and 15 assists while Reilly Zegunis added 15 kills of her own.
 
Wright State (22-4, 14-1 Horizon) closes its regular season slate on Saturday against Purdue Fort Wayne (15-13, 8-7 Horizon) in a 2 p.m. match on ESPN+. Following the match, the Raiders will celebrate the careers of five players - Taylor Bransfield, Camryn Hausler, Jenny Morey, Jenny Wessling and Ott.

On Friday, the Raiders took the opening set 25-21 before dropping the second set 25-22. They put their foot on the gas to close the night, taking sets three and four by 25-13 and 25-20 scores, respectively, to close the night.
 
Wright State opened the match with a .306 team hitting percentage in the opening set before settling for a .231 overall hitting mark in the win, notching 57 kills against 20 errors while holding Purdue Fort Wayne to a .156 team hitting percentage for the night.
 
Zegunis notched her 15 kills on just 24 attempts to finish with a .625 hitting percentage, adding three blocks, two digs and an ace to her final stat line. Ott turned in her ninth double-double of the season with her 15 kills and 15 digs, while Lauren Yacobucci notched a double-double of her own, passing out 43 of the Raiders' 51 assists and adding 14 digs.
 
Mya Ayro finished with 11 kills of her own with eight digs, while Morey and Wessling both collected 13 digs. Haley Robinson was active at the net all night, turning in nine blocks, while Elena Dubuc added six of her own. The Raiders collected seven service aces as a group, with two each from Morey and Yacobucci.
