
Golf makes short trip to battle at The Jewell

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team participates in The Jewell beginning Saturday morning in Batavia, OH at the Elks Run Golf Course. The two-day tournament will get underway daily with shotgun starts both mornings. Saturday's tee times will be at 10 a.m. to avoid potential frost in the morning.

The Raiders at playing in The Jewell for the first time since March 2021, when they won the six-team tournament. Wright State is back in action after a 14th-place team showing at the Seahawk Intercollegiate last week, with Mikkel Mathiesen (t26th) leading the way individually for the Raiders at eight over par.

Situated on 163 acres of lush, rolling hills in Batavia, Ohio, Elks Run Golf Course is a 6,785-yard, par 71 layout designed by Greg Norman.ÂÂÂ The 54-hole tournament will open play with 36 holes on Saturday followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday.

A tune up to the Horizon League Championship at the end of the month, the field features six Horizon League teams competing. In addition to the Raiders, the field features: Bellarmine, Cleveland State, Saint Francis, Oakland, Detroit Mercy, Southern Indiana, Youngstown State, Bowling Green, Thomas More and tournament host Northern Kentucky.

Following this weekend's action, the Raiders will host the Wright State Invitational April 14 and 15 at Heatherwoode Golf Club before the Horizon League Championship the following week in Florida.
