NASHPORT, OH – The Wright State golf team finished tied for fourth at the Virtues Intercollegiate after the tournament was halted and shortened to 36 holes due to weather.
Â
The Raiders carded a three-over 579 team score over the two rounds, opening with a nine-over opening round 297 before bouncing back with a six-under 282 over their second 18 holes. Individually, Andrew Flynn led Wright State with a one-under score to finish in a tie for 13th.
Â
Tournament action was originally slated for 36 holes of action on Saturday before a final round 18 holes on Sunday. Due to the conditions, first round tee times were pushed back Saturday morning, with not all players finishing their second rounds before play was halted. The decision to shorten the tournament to 36 holes was made later Saturday evening and play wrapped up Sunday morning after the final players wrapped up their second rounds.
Â
Flynn jumped 26 spots on the leaderboard after carding a three-under second round 69 to bounce back from his two-over 74 in his opening 18 holes. Shane Ochs (t22nd, +1) and Adam Horn (t30th, +3) saw similar leaderboard jumps, hopping 25 and 28 spots, after both notched second round two-under 70s. Ochs opened with a three-over 75 while Horn was four-over after an opening 76. Timmy Hollenbeck (t37th, +3) carded rounds of one-over 73 and two-over 74 to finish a shot back of that pair.
Â
Playing as an individual, Ian Asch (t30th, +2) opened with a three-over 75 before a one-under 71 in his second round. Also playing as an individual, Ky Fisher (t42nd, +4) recorded a three-over round of 75 and one-over 73, while Brock Rumpke (t59th, +7) was had rounds of three-over 75 and four-over 76.
