Bowling tallies four wins in Friday’s opening action

ST. LOUIS – The Wright State bowling team opened play at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite on Friday, going 4-1 in the first day of action to sit second overall in the 15-team field.

Saturday's action gets underway at 9 a.m. and will feature five traditional matches before the weekend wraps up on Sunday at 8 a.m. with bracket play (three best-of-seven Baker matches).
 
Teams bowled five head-to-head Baker matches on Friday, with the Raiders grabbing wins over Indianapolis (942-870), Newman (1,169-933), No. 13 McKendree (1,092-979) and Lewis (1,197-917) before falling to Oklahoma Christian in a tight match (1,066-994) to end the day.
 
Wright State recorded its highest game ever as a program with 289.  The Raiders added their highest five-game Baker block in program history with the 1,197 mark against Lewis, averaging a 239.4 in the block.
 
The Raiders finished with a 5,394 total pinfall on Friday with a 215.8 average game score.
 
Saturday's traditional matches will see Wright State square off against Central Missouri, No. 9 Maryville, No. 21 UAB and No. 16 Wisconsin-Whitewater.
