Bowlers notch two Sunday wins; pair named to All-Tournament Team

ROCKFORD, IL – The No. 20 Wright State bowling team rolled three best-of-seven baker matches to finish the Warhawk Classic on Sunday, winning its opening match of the day before bouncing back from a narrow defeat to grab a final win and finish the tournament in third place in the 10-team field.

A pair of Raiders finished atop the individual standings, with Jasmine Schulze averaging a 191.40 game and Mia Sayles right behind her in second with a 191.0 average, and were named to the five-member all-tournament team.

The Raiders won their first best-of-seven baker match over Carroll 4-3 to advance to take on (RV) Newman, where Wright State fell in five games to set up a final matchup with Western Illinois. The Raiders made quick work of the finale, winning in four games to notch their second victory over Western Illinois of the weekend.

Wright State tallied a total weekend pinfall of 11,603, the second-highest total among all teams behind only tournament champion Newman, as the Raiders had a game average of 178.5. Wright State's 8-4 record for the weekend tied them with Newman for the best record.

Next up for the Raiders will be tournament action at Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic, hosted by Youngstown State, next weekend. Tournament action will take place at Holiday Bowl in Struthers, Ohio and action will get underway Friday morning.
