INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team received 47 total points as the Raiders were selected eighth in the Horizon League preseason poll ahead of the 2025-26 season, the League announced on Thursday
Green Bay was picked at the top of the poll with 117 points and eight first-place votes, while Robert Morris was picked second with 97 points and one first-place vote.
 
Youngstown State (92 total points, third place - one first-place vote) and Cleveland State (87 total points, fourth place – one first-place vote) received the remaining first-place votes in the preseason poll.
Women's Basketball returns nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen). Claire Henson started all 32 games in 2024-25 while being second on the team in points per game with 9.8, while Lauren Scott (23 starts) and Olivia Brown (21 starts) also had double-digit starts for the Raiders last season. Rylee Sagester, Chloe Chard Peloquin, Ellie Magestro-Kennedy, Abbie Riddle, and Florrie Cotterill all look to take another step forward after playing in 20 or more games a season ago. Transfers Breezie Williams and Grace Okih join WSU with some collegiate experience alongside true freshmen Elaina Rager and Maja Dilen.
 
Wright State's inaugural Raider Madness, a brand-new preseason basketball event celebrating both the men's and women's basketball programs, is next Tuesday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. inside the Nutter Center, with free admission for all fans. Raider Madness will officially tip off the 2025–26 basketball season, giving fans their first chance to see both Wright State teams in action. The event will include player introductions, team drills, inflatables, music, and post-event autograph sessions with the players.
