Women’s Basketball Wraps Up Homestand with IU East

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (3-2) wraps up its four-game homestand on Saturday, November 22, as IU East visits the Nutter Center. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m., and fans are encouraged to bring new youth winter clothes to donate to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee clothing drive

SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
IU East enters Saturday at 1-4 on the season with a win over Mount Vernon Nazarene in its season opener on November 4. The Red Wolves took on Southern Indiana on Monday in an exhibition, falling to the Screaming Eagles 32-87.
 
Guard Taylor Farris tops the squad in points (22.0), rebounds (5.8), assists (3.8), steals (2.2), and minutes (33.6). Collectively, IU East averages 69.8 points per game on just over 38 percent shooting. The Red Wolves have allowed 86.6 points per contest through five official games played.

HISTORY VS. IU EAST
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between Wright State and IU East. The 2025-26 season is only the twelfth women's basketball season in the school's history, with the program beginning in the 2014-15 season.
 
LAST TIME OUT

The Wright State women's basketball team fell 76-83 in overtime to Bellarmine on Wednesday.
 
Breezie Williams (18), Rylee Sagester (16), and Claire Henson (13) all finished with double-digit points for the Raiders. Henson led the team with 12 rebounds en route to her first double-double of the season. Chloe Chard Peloquin also snagged double-digit rebounds with 11. Williams and Henson tied for the team lead in assists with four.
 
Wright State started the game hot, building a nine-point lead in the middle of the first quarter and holding a four-point advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.
 
Bellarmine would outscore the Raiders by five in the second quarter to hold a one-point advantage going into the halftime break. Williams led all players at the break with 10 points and four made field goals.
 
The two teams would battle back and forth in the second half, with Bellarmine jumping out to an eight-point lead with 8:31 left in the fourth quarter, its largest lead of the game. The Raiders would go on to score nine straight points and take a one-point lead with 6:41 remaining in the game.  The game was tied at 66 with 1:48 to go. Ashlee Harris would give Bellarmine a two-point lead with just 8 seconds to go before Henson matched it with a jumper of her own to send the game to overtime, tied at 68.
 
Bellarmine would outscore the raiders 15-8 in the overtime period to earn its second win of the season and second win over Wright State in the last two years.
 
HORIZON LEAGUE RANKS
Wright State features the highest-powered offense in the Horizon League, topping the league with 405 points scored and averaging 81 points per game. The Raiders are getting it done from beyond the three-point line, shooting a league high 36.4% and knocking down 10.2 three-pointers per game, followed by Youngstown State at 7.8 per game.
 
BREEZIE LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING
Senior guard Breezie Williams has made an instant impact for the Raiders, averaging 14.4 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game across her first five games in a Raider uniform. The Canton, Ohio native is shooting an impressive 46.2% from the floor, 38.1% from three-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line. Williams is sixth in the Horizon League in points per game (14.4), fourth in field goal percentage (46.2%), and three-pointers per game (1.6). The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a new career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks.  She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action.
 
RYLEE FROM RANGE

Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 45.9% from beyond the arc, which is a team best and second in the conference. Nationally, Sagester is tied for tenth in three-pointers made with 17 and tied for ninth in three-pointers per game with 3.33, both marks top the Horizon League. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in four of the Raiders' five games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.  
 
CRASHING THE BOARDS

Chloe Chard Peloquin and Claire Henson have been active in the paint for the Raiders, each snagging 37 rebounds across the team's first 5 games for an average of 7.4. The pair is tied for third in the conference in rebounds and rebounds per game. Chard Peloquin started the year hot, grabbing a career-high 11 boards in the season opener at Butler, and later tied her career high against Bellarmine with 11 more rebounds. Henson topped her career-high against Bellarmine, snagging 12 rebounds. Henson leads Chard Peloquin in offensive rebounds, 13-12, but Chard Peloquin leads in defensive rebounds, 25-24.
 
RECORD-BREAKING HOME OPENER

The Raiders set a new program best for points scored in a single game with 122 points. Their first time eclipsing 100 points since November 10, 2017, against Northwestern (OH).
 
The Raiders led wire-to-wire, taking the lead just 19 seconds into the game and never looking back.  Breezie Williams led all players in points for the second game in a row, following up her 27-point performance with another 20-point performance in just 14 minutes. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy (17), Elaina Rager (17), Rylee Sagester (17), and Grace Okih (16) all scored double-digits, with Okih and Rager setting new career highs. All 11 available Raiders saw action on the court tonight, with each player scoring at least four points.
 
Wright State was making it rain from downtown, tying the program record in three-pointers made with 18. The Raiders did it shooting an impressive 47.4% from beyond the arc.
 
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD

The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
 
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin) but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
 
UP NEXT
The Raiders will hit the road for their next three games, starting with Ohio on Monday, November 24. Tip-off in Athens is slated for 7 p.m. Next, Wright State will travel to Boca Raton to take part in the Thanksgiving Classic, taking on the host Florida Atlantic on Nov. 28 and Air Force on Nov. 29. Both games are set to tip off at 1 p.m.
