Three in double figures not enough on Friday afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS – Three players finished with double-digit scoring efforts but the Wright State men's basketball team fell 94-69 at Butler on Friday afternoon.
 
Wright State (4-4) is back in action on Wednesday night as the Raiders finish a three-game road swing with a visit to Youngstown State to open Horizon League play. Wednesday's game is set for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff, and fans can follow the action several ways – on ESPN+via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio feed.
 
Friday afternoon, the Raiders took a 32-29 lead at the half on Solomon Callaghan's three-point bucket just before the horn to cap a back-and-forth first 20 minutes, but Butler (6-1) opened the second half on an 18-3 run to gain separation for the remainder of the afternoon.
 
Solomon Callaghan finished with a Raider-high 17 points, tallying 14 in the first 20 minutes, aided by five three-pointers. TJ Burch turned in 13 points of his own, a new season-best, and added five assists off the bench while Michael Cooper chipped in 12 points despite being plagued with foul trouble. Michael Imariagbe grabbed a season- and game-high 13 rebounds as he added six points, with Andrea Holden adding eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
 
Wright State shot 42 percent for the afternoon, connecting on seven three-pointers on the way to a 32 percent mark from deep. Butler shot 57 percent overall – including a 66 percent second half clip – while also hitting seven three-pointers (33 percent). The difference came at the free throw line, where the Raiders were just 2-of-3 while Butler finished 15-of-26 for a 58 percent mark.
 
Michael Ajayi turned in 20 points with eight rebounds, while Finley Bizjack added 20 points of his own to lead four Butler players with double digit scoring efforts in the win.
