DAYTON – The Wright State men's and women's track and field programs competed at a pair of meets over the weekend, with a small contingent of Raiders at Friday's GVSU Big Meet and another group of Raiders competing Friday and Saturday at the Doug Raymond Invitational.
At the Big Meet on Friday, Wright State had 15 student-athletes competing.
Cierra Lively cleared 1.69m to finish fifth in the women's high jump, while
Meredith Goecke was 12th in the women's pole vault with a 3.55m mark.
Gavin Hutchinson was fifth in the men's 800m run with his 1:55.00 time, followed by teammate
Nicholas Hoelscher with a 1:55.71 mark in 13th.
Several Raiders competed across multiple heats in the men's 5,000m run.
Alex McCarty dropped a 14:26.65 time to finish fourth in his hear, while
Patrick Statzer turned in a 14:53.26 mark to finish second in his heat and Andrew Burgner notched a 14:55.45 time and finished 15th in his heat to pace 11 Wright State runners across the event.
At the Doug Raymond Invitational, six different Raiders competed, with three Wright State women finishing inside the Top 10 in the 3,000m run.
Emma Johnson took home the top spot in the race with her 10:02.54 mark, followed by
Anna Johnson in seventh at 10:57.61 and
Brooklyn Salyers at 11:10.05 in ninth.
Emma Johnson followed that up with a second-place finish in the women's 5,000m run with a time of 14:37.14, with Salyers also competing in the event and finishing 16th at 19:26.35.
Nathan Sheriff competed in the men's 5,000m run, turning in a time of 16:01.28 for a 13th-place finish.
Mia Wyngarden was the final Raider competitor at the Doug Raymond Invitational, finishing seventh in the women's 800m run with her 2:18.10 mark.
Wright State is back in action on Saturday with a full squad at the Wittenberg Invitational in Springfield, its final tuneup before the Horizon League Indoor Championship March 1 and 2 in Fort Wayne.
