Golf opens spring with 12th-place finish at Border Olympics

LAREDO, TX – The Wright State golf team opened its spring 2025 schedule with a 12th-place finish at the Border Olympics in Texas, finishing action at 43-over after a final round 296.

Shane Ochs led the Raiders individually, finishing tied for 44th overall at 10-over, carding a one-over 72 in his final round that featured a pair of birdies and an eagle on the 550-yard par five 17th hole. Andrew Flynn finished one shot back of Ochs at 11-over in a tie for 49th, notching a final round 76 (+5) with a pair of birdies of his own. Adam Horn (t59, +14) tallied an eagle of his own on the 17th hole as part of an even par final round 71 that saw two birdies to go along with his eagle.

Timmy Hollenbeck (t66, +16) was seven-over with a final round 78 while Brock Rumpke (t73, +19) carded a final round six-over 77.

Louisiana captured the team title at three-under for the tournament to win by six shots over New Mexico State and host Houston, while Ethan Klose of New Mexico State was the individual champion at five-under.

Wright State is back in action at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate March 3 and 4, the first of three tournaments in March for the Raiders.
