SPRINGFIELD, OH – The Wright State track & field squads were back in action at the Gem City Invitational on Saturday, with
Gavin Hutchinson and
Cierra Lively each breaking school records to lead the charge.
Lively cleared 1.71 meters in the women's high jump on her third attempt to claim the top spot for the afternoon and in the Raider record book, while Hutchinson was second in the men's 800 meter run with his 1:54.89 time. Hutchinson paced five Raiders in the top 12 in the men's 800, with
Jayden Thompson (4, 1:55.66) and
Matthew Lee (5, 1:55.72) just off his pace, while
Michael Cole was 10th at 1:58.71 and
Wyatt Medure was 12th with his 2:01.01 time.
Wright State continued the group success in both the men's and women's 3,000-meter runs, with five finishers in the top 20 in both races.
Andrew Bugner paced the men with his third-place finish at 8:38.44, while
Emma Johnson led the women with her 10:09.35 mark in fourth.
Jude Elkins grabbed the top spot in the men's 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.34 seconds, while the Raiders had two finishers in the top seven in the men's mile, led by
Alex McCarty in fifth (4:18.48) and followed closely by
Evan McPherson in seventh moments later (4:19.85).
In the field events,
Meredith Goecke cleared 3.55 meters to finish second in the women's pole vault, while the Raiders had three of the top five finishers in the men's pole vault, with
Oliver Murray leading the way in second (4.55 meters) followed by
Anthony Jiovani (3, 4.20m) and
Jackson Robbins (4, 4.13m).
Jahi McDonald cleared 1.90 meters for a second-place finish in the men's high jump with
Greyson Pollock just behind him in fifth after clearing 1.85 meters.
