Bowlers tally two Sunday wins

LOCKPORT, IL – The No. 19 Wright State bowling team rolled three best-of-seven baker matches to finish the Flyer Classic on Sunday, grabbing a pair of head-to-head wins before dropping its final match to finish the tournament 10th in the 22-team field.

The Raiders opened the day with a tough victory over No. 20 Tulane in a matchup that needed an extra session. The teams traded wins in the first to sets before a 234-234 tie in the third set, with Wright State later winning sets six and seven to force the decider, winning 75-63 to advance. Wright State came from behind again in its second matchup, winning sets six and seven for a comeback victory over No. 9 Stephen F. Austin. In their final game of the weekend, the Raiders took the opening game off of No. 10 Maryville before dropping the next four sets to wrap up action.

Wright State is back in action next weekend, February 15 and 16, at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis to conclude the month of February. The Raiders also have competition at the USBC Sectionals (March 8-9) and at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic (March 14-16) on the horizon in March.
