OXFORD, OH – The Wright State track & field programs opened the outdoor season on Friday at the Blizzard Buster hosted by Miami (OH) and came away with four first-place finishes and a litany of top 10 finishes in the Raiders' first taste of outdoor action.
The Wright State women took the top four spots in their 3,000m steeple race, led by
Emma Johnson's 10:51.06 mark and followed by the pack of
Reece Barnitz (12:01.42),
Anna Johnson (12:02.45) and
Sydney Thompson (12:03.17), while the Raider men took three of the top for spots in their race, paced by
Ethan Neblock's winning mark of 9:37.11, followed by
Kalib Tolle (9:53.86) in second and
Logan Eggert (10:27.33) in fourth.
Lylla Kovacs took home the top spot in the women's 100m hurdles with her time of 15:02, while
Hannah Falknor grabbed sixth-place finishes in both the women's 100m race (12.41) and the women's 200m race (26.11).
Cierra Lively cleared 1.70m to claim the women's high jump title in her first outdoor action, while fellow Raiders
Taryn Stills and
Olivia Aills both cleared 1.50m to finish in a tie for seventh.
Greyson Pollock had a busy afternoon in the men's field events, finishing second in the men's high jump with his 1.95m clearance before finishing third in both the long jump (6.51m) and triple jump (12.97m).
Jahi McDonald was right behind Pollock in the high jump with a 1.90m clearance of his own, while
Jacob Holbert notched a 6.35m mark to finish fifth in the long jump behind Pollock.
The Raiders also had a productive day at the pole vault, with
Oliver Murray clearing 4.20m for a second-place finish on the men's side as
Jackson Robbins was third with his 3.90m mark, while on the women's side
Meredith Goecke cleared 3.60m to tie for second.
Patrick Statzer (sixth, 4:04.42) and
Andrew Bugner (ninth, 4:06.76) led seven Wright State men in the men's 1,500m run, while
Mia Wyngarden's eighth-place time of 4:53.63 paced seven Raiders in the women's 1,500m run.
Wright State is back in action next Saturday, March 29 as the Raiders travel to compete in the Yellow Jacket Open hosted by Cedarville.
