DAYTON – The Wright State bowling team recorded 6,256 total pins on Saturday in the opening day of the USBC Sectionals at Smyrna Bowling Center just outside of Nashville, sitting third in the 20-team field with one day of competition remaining.
Jacksonville State currently sits in first with 6,752 pins, followed by Savannah College of Art & Design with 6,380 pins. Behind the Raiders is Stephen F. Austin in fourth (6,210), Maryville in fifth (6,198) and Maryland-Eastern Shore (6,101) in sixth.
The top four teams from the sectional advance to the USBC Nationals. The four advancing teams from each of the four sectionals will compete in Las Vegas April 14-19.

Sunday action begins at 7:45 a.m. and features two more four game Baker blocks, with the final block of the afternoon session being a position round.
On Saturday, the Raiders bowled a pair of four game Baker blocks, tallying 3,143 pins in the first block to sit in third-place with a 196.4 average game score, remaining in third after the afternoon session after collecting 3,113 pins (194.6 average game score) for their 6,256 pins, finishing the day with a 105.5 average game score.
