DAYTON – Members of the Wright State track & field programs were in action in three events in three different states on Friday and Saturday, with the Raiders turning in strong showings at each site.
The Raiders will again split up next week for competition at the Otterbein Twilight on Friday, April 18 and at the Tiffin Track Carnival Saturday, April 19.
Duke Invitational
Cierra Lively grabbed the top spot in the women's high jump on Friday as she cleared 1.71m, while
Lylla Kovacs finished 37th in the women's 100m hurdles later that afternoon with her 15.38 second time.
Meredith Goecke no-heighted in the women's pole vault during Saturday competition.
Bucknell Outdoor Classic
Wright State had 11 distance athletes competing at Bucknell, with
Emma Johnson's fourth-place finish in the women's 10,000m invite run (35:14.92) leading the way, while
Ethan Neblock finished 17th in the men's 3,000m steeplechase (9:19.21). The Raiders had a pair of top 30 finishers in both the men's 1,500m (
Evan McPherson 14th, 3:59.02 and
Kalib Tolle 26th, 4:01.38) and men's 10,000m run (
Blake Rodgers 14th, 31:01.42 and
Andrew Bugner 27th, 31:47.23) as
Noah Sharp was 30th (30:18.77) in the men's 10,000m invite run.
Patrick Statzer finished 78th (15:08.15) in the men's 5,000m invite run, while three Raiders competed in the men's 800m race -
Nicholas Hoelscher (20th, 1:53.65),
Gavin Hutchinson (47th, 1:55.80) and
Matthew Lee (83rd, 1:57.35).
NKU Invitational
The Raiders had their largest contingent competing on Saturday at NKU, four first-place finishes and numerous top 10 finishes.
Jacob Holbert grabbed the top spot in the men's long jump with his 6.47m mark as
Greyson Pollock was first in the men's high jump clearing 1.98m and teammate
Jahi McDonald was second in the same event, clearing 1.88m. On the track,
Hannah Falknor won the women;s 100m race with a 11.88 second mark, while she was second in the 200m race with her 24.77 second mark, just 0.06 seconds off the top spot. The women's 3,000m steeplechase saw
Reece Barnitz claim the top spot with her 11:59.71 mark, followed by teammates
Sydney Thompson (2nd, 12:01.33) and
Kayla Compton (4th, 12:31.20).
Oliver Murray finished second in the men's pole vault, clearing 4.55m, while
Brooklyn Salyers was second in the women's 5,000m with her 19:30.77 time. The women's high jump saw
Olivia Aills (4th, 1.50m) and
Taryn Stills (5th, 1.45m) in the top five, while three Raiders –
Ben Schrumpf (3rd, 15:37.78),
Michael Gale (8th, 16:07.85) and
Nathan Sheriff (9th, 16:17.19) were in the top 10 in the men's 5,000m run. Wright State had strong finishes in the men's and women's 800m as well, with the women's side seeing
Mia Wyngarden (4th, 2:16.97),
Elle Lambert (7th, 2:22.58) and
Alexa Magoteaux (9th, 2:23.81) all in the top 10, while the men had top 10 finishes by
Owen Kirkham (7th, 1:59.01) and
Michael Cole (10th, 2:00.00).
