Raiders Headed to Illinois for NCAA Regional
4/30/2025 2:02:00 PM | Men's Golf
FAIRBORN- The Wright State men's golf team will head to Urbana, Illinois for the 2025 NCAA Regionals hosted by the University of Illinois and Atkins Golf Club.
The back-to-back Horizon League champions will stay in the Midwest this time around after traveling to California for last year's regional.
The Raiders earned their ninth Horizon League title by pulling away from the competition over the championship's final nine holes. Wright State played the back nine at a collective eight-under par to win the league by 11 strokes. Shane Ochs and Timmy Hollenbeck shared Horizon League Golfer of the Year honors while head coach Conner Lash was named the Horizon League's top coach.
The NCAA Men's Golf Championships will start with six, 54-hole regionals from May 12-14. Eighty-one programs made the field, and the top five teams at each regional will advance to the NCAA finals. The top individual on a non-advancing team will also punch a ticket to the finals.
The 13-team field will tee up at Atkins Golf Club in Urbana, Illinois. Formerly Stone Creek Golf Club, the University was gifted the Golf Club in 2020, and the course underwent a full renovation. The par-71 course now plays at over 7500 yards and hosts the annual Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate.
Second-ranked Oklahoma State is the regional's top-seed, with North Carolina, host Illinois and Texas Tech all ranking in the top-25. The full list of teams competing in the regional are listed below in alphabetical order.
