Cam Gilkerson Named #HLBASE Batter of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State baseball's Cam Gilkerson has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Gilkerson marks Wright State's third consecutive weekly honor, joining Max Whitesell, who was named Pitcher of the Week on April 29, and Cam Allen and Gus Gregory, who swept the awards on April 22.

Gilkerson led the Raiders to a series sweep over Youngstown State to clinch the Horizon League regular-season title. The redshirt freshman outfielder posted a .692 batting average over the series, going 9-for-13 at the plate with a double and two home runs.

He drove in runs in all three games, including a two-run homer following an hour-long rain delay in the series finale. The Hilliard, Ohio, native tallied a team-best nine RBIs while not striking out once. He registered a 1.231 slugging percentage, a .688 on-base percentage, and went 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

Wright State returns to Nischwitz Stadium for its final regular-season home series, hosting Northern Kentucky beginning Friday, May 9.
