Raiders Fall in Horizon League Opener

Indianapolis, IN- The Wright State men's soccer team dropped their Horizon League opener 1-2 on a rainy Saturday at the hands of IU Indy.

Wright State (0-5-1) will have a week off between matches with their next game coming on Saturday, September 20 at Alumni Field when Purdue Fort Wayne comes into town. Kickoff is currently slated for 4 p.m.

Both teams combined for 15 total shots in the first 45 minute (six for the Raiders and nine for the Jaguars), but neither side was able to put one on target and test the opposing goalkeepers.

Keiji Nakazawa would break the deadlock about one minute into the second half. Maximilian Banfi dribbled the ball up the right wing and threaded a pass-through multiple IU Indy defenders to the feet of Nakazawa who dribbled past the goalkeeper and buried the ball into the back of the net. The goal is Nakazawa's first of the season and first as a Raider.

IU Indy would be awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box in the 54th minute. Stan Klaver stepped up to take the free kick for the Jaguars are fired a shot on goal just out of reach of the goalkeeper to level the score at one goal apiece.
