CHICAGO- The Wright State men's soccer team drew with Loyola Chicago 2-2 on Thursday night at Loyola Soccer Park.
Wright State (0-3-1) will be back in action in the Windy City on Sunday afternoon against UIC. First touch is set for 3 p.m. ET.
The Raiders played 88 minutes of the game downtown 10 men after being shown a red card in the second minute.
Loyola would break the scoring open in the 36
th minute when a cross came into the box from Arved von Vegesack and found the foot of Angel Mendez who placed it into the left side of the net.
The Raiders down to 10 men did not hang their heads and battled and kept themselves in the match. WSU would find the equalizer in the 70
th minute when
Edwin Espinal-Elvir sent a corner kick into the box that took a deflection and found its way into the back of the net.
Loyola would be served a red card in the 78
th minute making the match a 10 on 10
Henry Hutchinson would give Wright State the lead in the 82
nd minute. Hutchinson would dump the ball to
Brian Burkett at the top of the box who then laid the ball off perfectly to Hutchinson as he made a run towards net, Hutchin took a touch and buried the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Loyola wouldn't be down for long answering back in the 83
rd minute to level the score at two goals apiece.
In the box score the Raiders trailed the Ramblers in shots (10-14), shots on goal (3-5), and corner kick opportunities (1-5). Espinal-Elvir led WSU in shots with three.
