Men's Basketball slips against Cleveland State

DAYTON – Six players finished with double-digit scoring nights on Wednesday, but the Wright State men's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end with an 85-79 loss to Cleveland State inside the Nutter Center.

Wright State (12-8, 7-2 Horizon) now turns its attention to a Saturday matchup inside the Nutter Center against Northern Kentucky. Fans can follow the all the action several ways – on ESPN2, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the television and radio feeds.

On Wednesday, the Raiders were down seven at the half against Cleveland State (7-14, 3-7 Horizon) before using an 18-0 run midway through the second half to pull even and take an eight-point lead with just over 10 minutes to play. Cleveland State didn't go away, eventually tying the game at 65 with six minutes to play to set up a back-and-forth final stretch. The Raiders took a two-point lead with 77 seconds remaining, but they wouldn't make another basket, with the visitors closing with the final eight points – all from the free throw line.

Michael Cooper led Wright State with 14 points as he added six rebounds, while a trio of Raiders each had 11 points – TJ Burch, Solomon Callaghan and Kellen Pickett, with 10 points from Dominic Pangonis and Michael Imariagbe, with Imariagbe just missing a double-double with nine points as he added a team-high five assists. Logan Woods chipped in eight points, all in the second half, and Andrea Holden had four points for the remainder of the Wright State scoring.

Wright State finished the night shooting 47 percent overall (31-of-66) but connected on just five three-pointers (5-24, 21 percent) and was 67 percent (12-of-18) at the free throw line. Cleveland State shot 51 percent overall (27-of-59) while hitting 11 of its 23 three-point attempts (48 percent) and was 91 percent (20-of-22).

Dayan Nessah had a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead four players with double digit scoring nights for Cleveland State, as Tre Beard had 18 points, Jaidon Lipscomb added 15 and Chevalier Emery had 10 in the win for the visitors.
