DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State golf team grabbed a pair of major honors in the Horizon League's end of the year awards, as Shane Ochs earned Golfer of the Year honors and Conner Lash was recognized as the Horizon League Coach of the Year.
In addition to the major awards, Ochs was joined on the All-League First Team by Timmy Hollenbeck. Ochs is now a three-time Horizon League first team selection, while Hollenbeck earns his second all-League honor after being named last season's top freshman and Flynn nabs his first accolade as well.
Lash earned HL Coach of the Year honors for the third straight season, and has four such recognitions in the last five years. Former Raider leader Fred Jefferson also won four times (1996, 1997, 2000 and 2003) while Pete Samborsky also earned the honor in 2012 while leading the Raiders.
Ochs' top individual honor gives the Raiders a fifth-straight HL Golfer of the Year recognition after he and Hollenbeck shared Co-Golfer of the Year honors a season ago, with Mikkel Mathiesen grabbing the 2024 honor and Tyler Goecke in 2022 and 2023. Other Raiders to have earned top League honors include Ryan Wenzler (2017), Nick Scott (2015), Jesse Hutchins (2003) and John Schones II (2002).
Ochs enters the postseason with a season scoring average of 71.48 with 19 of his 30 rounds carded at 72 or better, including his season-low rounds of 66 and 67 (twice each). He has five Top 10 finishes on the season, with wins at the Lake Jovita Invitational and Horizon League Championship. Hollenbeck currently holds a season scoring average of 71.37 with eight rounds in the 60s, including a program- and course record-low round of 61 at the Wright State Invitational earlier this month. Hollenbeck finished tied for first at both the Wright State Invitational and the Memphis Intercollegiate this spring.
Wright State took home its 10th Horizon League title earlier this week and now awaits its destination in the 2026 NCAA Regional, which will be announced during the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Selection Show on Wednesday, May 6 at 2 p.m. on the Golf Channel.
