Biography

2009-10: Five rebounds at Washington...five assists against Portland State...10 points and four rebounds versus Cleveland State...11 points, six assists and five rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore...eight points and seven rebounds versus Arkansas-Little Rock...five rebounds at Loyola and against UIC...six rebounds at Detroit and versus Green Bay...10 points, four rebounds and three assists at Youngstown State.

2008-09: 11 points off the bench at Sam Houston State...nine points vs Norfolk State...five rebounds vs South Florida...10 points off the bench at Detroit...eight rebounds against Loyola...nine points vs Valparaiso...13 points/8 rebounds vs Butler...first start vs Northeastern...10 points vs Milwaukee...19 points vs Valparaiso in HL first round followed by 10 vs Milwaukee in the second round.

2007-08: Sat out due to NCAA transfer rules.

Duquesne: Competed for the Dukes during the 2006-07 season...averaged 9.9 points and 4.1 rebounds as he appeared in all 29 games, starting 22...registered 15 double-figure scoring games...posted season-best 23 points in the season-opener against Youngstown State, 14 in the second half...the 23 points tied for the third-most ever by a Duquesne player in his first varsity game and were just three shy of the record overall...added nine rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes versus the Penguins...converted two game-deciding free throws with 1.3 seconds left and intercepted the ensuing inbounds pass to give the Dukes a 77-76 win over UNC Asheville...also hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 8.2 seconds left to force overtime in a 98-93 win at Boston College...scored 17 of his 19 points against the Eagles in the second half in helping the Dukes to the school's first-ever win in an Atlantic Coast Conference arena and earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors...five assists and one turnover in 31 minutes at Saint Louis...scored in double digits in eight of DU's last 13 games...had 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in 25 minutes versus Xavier...11 points and six boards in 19 minutes at St. Bonaventure...went 3-of-3 from the behind arc at Fordham and against Akron...287 points and 34 steals were the ninth-most ever posted by a Duquesne freshman and his 34 3-pointers were the seventh-most ever by a DU freshman. 

Prep School: Attended Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia during the 2005-06 season...averaged a team-high 18.2 points per game for the 25-7 Colonels who finished the season ranked ninth nationally...shot 57 percent from the field, 84 percent from the foul line and 38 percent from the 3-point arc...scored a season-high 32 points versus Boys to Men Academy. 

High School: Finished his career fifth on the Centerville scoring list with 767 points...scored 459 points as a senior, which was the third-highest single-season total in school history...helped Centerville tie the school record for overall wins (23-3) and set a record for conference wins (12-1 GWOC) as a senior...Elks reached the regional finals in 2005 as Grote scored a career-best 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a semifinal win over Trotwood-Madison and had 15 points in the finals versus Cincinnati St. Xavier...Centerville finished the 2005 season ranked No. 1 in Division I by the Dayton Daily News ...part of two district championships (2004 & 2005) and three sectional titles (2003, 2004 & 2005)...named to the Flyin' to the Hoop 2005 All-Tournament Team...helped Centerville to an 80-21 record, including a 17-4 mark in tournament play, in his four seasons.

Personal: Born Scott Robert Grote on April 11, 1986...his father, Bob, was the leading scorer at Wright State for three seasons from 1974-76...a member of the Wright State Athletics Hall of Fame, Bob ranks 10th on WSU's all-time scoring list with 1,406 points...Bob, the Wright State basketball and baseball MVP in 1975 & 1976, pitched professionally as part of the New York Mets organization...Uncle, Mike, also played basketball at Wright State from 1982-84...Mike was a player and Bob was an assistant coach for Wright State's 1983 Division II National Championship team ...Uncle, Steve, was a starter for Michigan's 25-7 1976 NCAA Tournament runner-up team and is the namesake for Michigan basketball's annual Steve Grote Hustle Award...Steve, who scored 1,330 points in four NCAA Tournament seasons at UM (1974-77) was also a member of the 1974 USA Men's World Championship Team...both of his grandfathers played baseball professionally: Bruce Todd with the Atlanta Braves organization and Hal Grote with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization.
