Baseball Downed 16-4 at Tennessee

The Wright State baseball team dropped a 16-4 decision to Tennessee at a soggy Lindsey Nelson Stadium on the UT campus. Jeremy Hamilton collected three of the nine Raider hits in the game and four players collected RBI's in the contest.
The Volunteers (14-9) raced out to an early 3-0 lead on WSU starter John Lambert (0-1) after one inning of play. Lambert, who was making his first collegian start, allowed four hits and hit a batter in the first inning and Tennessee capitalized with three quick runs.
The Vols would add three more runs in the second inning, ending Lambert's outing, and would add multiple runs in each of the next three innings.
In the fourth, Hamilton tripled to straight-away center field and Parker singled to put the Raiders on the board.
The Raiders put another run on the board in the sixth when Hamilton struck with a towering home run off the scoreboard in right-center field. It was the second home run of the season for Hamilton and his third hit of the game.
The Green and Gold used eight pitchers in the contest, allowing 16 runs on 18 hits and striking out eight batters. Jon Durket, Nate Stevens and Jason Bennion combined to thrown the final three innings scoreless, the only scoreless innings for the Green and Gold.
Wright State posted two runs in the ninth inning on RBI singles by John Kopilchack and Sam Mote to make the final margin 16-4.
Hamilton led the way for WSU at the plate with a home run, two triples, two runs scored and an RBI. Dan Biedenharn, Aaron Fields, Kopilchack, Stephen Marquez, Mote and Parker each collected one hit against the Volunteers. Ross Oeder had his 13-game hit streak snapped, going 0-for-3 with a walk.
The next action for the Raiders (8-6) will be a Horizon League series with Cleveland State. The Green and Gold open their home slate at 6:30 on Friday evening against the Vikings at Nischwitz Stadium.
