
Women Win at Milwaukee

The duo of Shey Peddy and LaShawna Thomas combined for 42 points as Wright State head coach Bridgett Williams picked up her 100th career coaching victory Thursday night, a 61-41 decision over the Milwaukee Panthers at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Milwaukee opened the scoring with a three, but the Raiders took control from there with a 23-5 run over a 12-minute span. The Panthers cut the margin to 23-16 at the 2:15 mark with eight unanswered points, but WSU closed the half with an 8-1 burst, including a pair of Charné Dixon threes, to go up 31-17 at the break.
Wright State shot 48 percent in the first half, including five of 10 from three-point range, while holding Milwaukee to just five of 15 shooting. The Raiders also held a 17-8 rebounding advantage and outscoring the Panthers 14-9 on points off of turnovers.
A Thomas layup extended the WSU lead to 36-19 at the 14:35 mark of the second half, but Milwaukee went on a 13-2 run to trim the deficit to six with still 7:52 to play.
Peddy, though, hit a pair of technical foul shots and that keyed a 7-0 burst to push the lead back into double figures at 45-32. The Raiders maintained that double-figure advantage the rest of the way, extending it to as much as 20 on three different occasions down the stretch.
With the win, head coach Bridgett Williams picked up her 100th coaching win, with 90 of those coming at WSU.
Wright State shot 45 percent overall, including eight of 14 from behind the arc, while Milwaukee was at 35 for the game, but just two of 12 from three. The Raiders outrebounded the Panthers 36-26, 14-8 on the offensive end, and led in points off of turnovers (24-15) and fast-break points (10-0).
Peddy led all scorers with a season-high 24 points and added seven assists, six rebounds and six steals. Thomas had 18 points while Dixon set a season best with seven along with six boards and five steals.
Traci Edwards paced Milwaukee (6-9, 1-3 Horizon) with 12 points and eight rebounds while Lindsay Laur had 11 points off the bench, all of those coming in the second half.
Wright State (7-9, 3-2 Horizon) closes out the Wisconsin trip on Saturday with a 3:00 Eastern visit to Green Bay.
